First Edition of the Young Diplomats Forum: Unveiling the Threads of History and Fostering Social-Economic Cooperation

Welcome to the 1st Edition of the Young Diplomats Forum (YDF), hosted by the Africa-Asia Youth Foundation (AAYFO) at Aura Suites conference hall in Dar es salaam, Tanzania. This groundbreaking event aimed at reflecting on the diplomatic and social-economic cooperation between Africa and Asia, providing an in-depth understanding of the nature of the relationship, its history, and the current state of affairs. Historical ties between Africa and Asia are not new, for centuries there were considerable migration and commerce among societies on opposite side of the Indian Ocean. Trade and other economic relations between Africa and Asia existed long before colonialism.

The forum welcomed Hon. Omar Mjenga (ndc), President & CEO of the Centre for International Policy - Africa, as a distinguished diplomat and keynote speaker. With profound insights on Africa's diplomatic socio-economic priorities with Asian countries, Hon. Mjenga emphasized the importance of understanding each other's priorities as the first step towards meaningful partnerships. In fostering cooperation, he affirmed that such understanding would serve as the basis for forging fruitful relationships. Hon. Ms. Rose Sanga, Assistant Lecturer at the Centre for Foreign Relations, shared enlightening presentations on "Communication in Diplomatic Practices and National Interest."
