AAYFO IYD 2019 “Sustainable Education through Alternate Education”.
On August 14, 2019, Africa-Asia Youth Foundation commemorated International Youth Day under the theme "Sustainable Education through Alternate Education," geared towards highlighting the urgent need for innovative learning methods and opportunities to ensure a brighter future for the youth of Africa and Asia.
The event brought together young leaders, educators, policymakers, and organizations from across Africa and Asia to share their experiences, knowledge, and ideas on how to create sustainable and inclusive educational systems. By exploring alternate education models, AAYFO aims to empower youth, especially those who face barriers to accessing traditional education due to factors such as poverty, conflict, or geographic isolation.
Throughout the day, participants engaged in thought-provoking discussions, workshops, and interactive sessions. These highlighted the importance of embracing alternate education approaches to bridge the educational gap and provide equal opportunities to all young individuals.
Speakers from both continents emphasized the need to foster creativity and critical thinking among young learners. They highlighted the significance of alternative education pathways such as vocational training, apprenticeships, and online learning platforms. These approaches equip young individuals with practical skills, and entrepreneurial mindsets, and empower them to adapt to the evolving needs of the job market.
By providing a platform for sharing best practices, the event encouraged participants to collaborate and replicate successful models in their own communities and highlighted the importance of incorporating arts, culture, and technology into educational practices. They demonstrated how these elements enhance the learning experience, foster creativity, and promote cross-cultural understanding among the youth.
As the event concluded, the Africa-Asia Youth Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to promoting sustainable education through alternate education systems. Participants left the celebration with a renewed dedication to working collaboratively toward creating inclusive educational opportunities for all young individuals across Africa and Asia.
The Africa-Asia Youth Foundation believes that by embracing alternate education approaches and fostering innovative learning models, the youth of both continents can unlock their full potential. Together, we can build a brighter future where every young person has equal access to quality education, enabling them to contribute to the development and prosperity of their nations.
